Okeechobee SWAT Members Speak at Legislative Delegation
November 9, 2021

On November 9th, 2021, members of the Tobacco Free Partnership of Okeechobee and youth from the SWAT (Students Working Against Tobacco) Club had the privilege to speak about tobacco prevention and education in Okeechobee County during our local Legislative Delegation meeting.

Courtney Moyett, a member of the Tobacco Free Partnership of Okeechobee gave an overview of the program then introduced two SWAT leaders to speak about their local tobacco prevention efforts in Okeechobee County.

SWAT President Melany Anton educated attendees on what the SWAT club does in Okeechobee County and tobacco prevention efforts on a local level.  SWAT President Lizbeth Soriano made a presentation about the benefits of having tobacco free parks in Okeechobee County and the ways that secondhand smoke exposure in the parks has affected her life.

Both messages were well received by all, and the youth were complimented on their message delivery.
