January 25, 2020

On Saturday January 25th members of the Okeechobee SWAT (Students Working Against Tobacco) Chapter and members of the Tobacco Free Partnership of Okeechobee Participated in the 13th Annual Health and Safety Expo.

This event is free for residents of Okeechobee to attend and was held at the Agri-Civic Center. Attendees visited each booth to learn about their message of health and wellness.

The SWAT youth spoke to over 1,500 attendees about SWAT’s mission which is to empower youth to de-glamorize Big Tobacco and to work towards a tobacco free future.  SWAT youth also lead participants in making homemade stress balls out of balloons and flour.

The Tobacco Free Partnership of Okeechobee sponsored the event and spoke to participants about how community members can help establish policy change within our community that promotes tobacco free social norms.
